Income Tax Planner Web Detective

Detective is a standalone utility that checks the communication between the Income Planner Web application and the desktop application. Bloomberg Tax Technology Customer Support may ask you to run Detective and send the results via email.

Downloading Detective

The Detective utility files are in a compressed (zipped) folder that you can download and save to your local drive. Follow these steps to get the Detective files read for use.

  1. Click Income Tax Planner Web Detective.
  2. Follow your browser-specific instructions to save the ITPWebDetective.zip file to your local drive.
  3. Using Windows Explorer, locate the saved zip file (ITPWebDetective.zip), right-click it, and select Extract All on the shortcut menu.
  4. On the Extract Compressed Folders dialog, click Extract.

Using Detective

Follow these steps to open and run Detective and send the results to Bloomberg Tax Technology Customer Support. 

  1. Using Windows Explorer, open the extracted folder and double-click ITPWebDetective.exe to launch Detective.
  2. Click Run Tests. Detective begins and shows the progress of the diagnostic process. It may take a few minutes. When the process is complete, the results are shown.
  3. To send the results and the latest log file to Bloomberg Tax Technology Customer Support, click Send Results to Support.
  4. In the Email Using field, click the down arrow and click to select the email type from the drop-down list.
  5. If required, enter your email account user name and password in the appropriate fields.
  6. Click Send Email.
  7. To view the logs in the program’s log folder, click Open Log Folder. When the log folder window opens, click to open the log you want to see.
  8. When finished, click Close to close Detective.
